Last minute jitters

What the hell am I doing?  I have butterflies (the large economy size) in my stomach. I am almost 60 fercryingoutloud! Why couldn't I have just settled for a nice 2 weeks in Bali and then back to work with the snapshots like normal sane people, Ah! I think therein lies the answer. Oh well!  As Helen Keller said " Life is either a great adventure or nothing"

"My bags are packed - I'm ready to go". Now I'll sit and look at my packed bag for three days! Afraid to open it because I'll never be able to close it again. I'll just carry it around all zipped up forever.

After three tamper tantrums and much "Oh my Golly Goshes" I got my stupid stuff into my stupid bag and am ready to catch the stupid plane....How hard is it for a bag company to make a bag that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside...just can't be that hard!!  Anyway...I have calmed down considerably and haven't had to resort to artificial stimulants so all is good  :)

Getting to the nitty gritty :(

Today was the first attempt at packing the mountains of "stuff" (all indispensible of course) into the purple people eater (my back pack).  Aim is to fit it all in and come in under 20 kg. Good news is it only weighed 17.6 kgs - way to go me!!! Bad news is I still haven't packed toiletries or footwear. This leaves me in the predicament of being a smelly, barefoot but neatly back packed Aussie tourist. Will probably fit in well with all the other Aussie backpackers then lol.  Well ....better go and give it another shot!!!

The End of Work

Well after 42 years tomorrow is my last day of work. I'm sure at some stage I will need to do some work as I have grown fond of eating but to all intents and purposes tomorrow is it. Strange feeling but it's very very nice :)

The Pointy End

Well...it's getting closer...due to work crap have decided to move my leaving date forward a week so now leave there on July 1st. Have got all my ducks in a row re the car and stuff that needs doing while I'm away...well I think I've covered it all....thank God for email...how the hell did Christopher Columbus discover the new world  without getting emailed reminders that he has forgotten to pay his insurance or his mobile phone bill is due?  Must have been stressful!

Christmas

Was uncertain about my plans for Christmas but Robyn has kindly invited me to visit in the Cayman Islands and it is certainly a very exciting prospect. The alternative was New York but I would have been alone...aaawww poor me!  Not really ..it would have been fine but these revised plans are just so much better. I will spend New Years Eve in New York so will get the best of both worlds :)   I will have plenty of time to enjoy NY - don't fly to Iceland till Jan 12th.
