Airlie Beach - The Whitsunday Islands - Day #2 Thursday.....

We were picked up at 9 am to go Ocean Rafting for the day. I wasn't sure exactly what that entailed but it turned out to be a wonderful day. Thank you Dylan and Tim and Paulie. They certainly put these rubber duckies through their paces and I had to hold on for grim death a couple of times - exhilarating. We stopped for a snorkelling break and a beach hike up to the look out over Whitehaven Beach. Just the most beautiful place and glorious colours. Lunch was perfect, followed by a long walk along the beach checking out all the rich peoples' planes and boats and helicopters.

I recommend this outing if you ever go to Airlie Beach. Worth every penny.

Airlie Beach - The Whitsunday Islands - Day #1 Wednesday

Lee and I  had an early Wednesday morning flight on  a plane that was a bit smaller than I would have liked - had a bit of a claustrophobic feeling sitting in the window seat. Luckily the nice young man in the aisle seat was happy to change.  The flight was good and we arrived in Proserpine about midday and then it was just a 30 minute bus trip into Airlie Beach.
Lee - on the bus - sight seeing lol

We got dropped off at our apartment and were very pleasantly surprised with our unit.

We went through the booklets to see what excitement we could partake in while we were there. Lee has just had surgery so she was limited as to how energetic she could get but we rang up and booked a full day of Ocean Rafting. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around Airlie Beach - as it's just a small seaside town and a tropical beach it didn't take long. Lee found the shops and we had a little shopping frenzy and then ended up in a touristy place where you could book fishing trips or boat rides or....sky diving. Not quite sure why but I booked the sky diving for the Friday.
This is the man made lagoon for swimming - October to May is out of the question for
swimming in the ocean due to the Stingers

Stopped at the Down Under Bar for lunch and then  made our way back to our apartment and received a huge goodie basket from my sister for my birthday and made a meal of the abundant foods therein.
